Create efficient channel mapping rules with wildcards
Are you tired of mapping thousands of spot colors manually? Do you often get lost in the jungle of your countless spot color rules and encounter errors caused by wrong or missing channel mappings? Wildcards lead you back on the right track: with these placeholders, you can automatically map multiple color channels at once and thus keep your list of rules short and easier to maintain. The redesigned user interface provides additional support and allows to sort and order rules. Just follow the path: Channel Mapping Rules
Change the job order flexibly
Last-minute job changes can disrupt the schedule and impact productivity. You can now react quickly and change the job order in the queue at any time. Simply drag and drop your jobs to the desired position or use the new Move buttons from the ribbon to do so. Your queue is very long and you want to give a job the highest priority straight away? The global search helps you to find the job quickly and you can then put it directly in the first place using the right-click menu.
Adjust the settings for single jobs
Say goodbye to read-only job parameters and hello to our new Job Editor. Fix errors straight away from the job list by double-clicking on a job to open the editor. There you can then modify the settings for this specific job without permanently altering your resources. Compare input and output data at a glance and open the input PDF with just one click on the displayed link. The log tab provides details on warnings and errors, allowing you to quickly identify and resolve issues. You can find detailed instructions under the following link: The Job Editor
Restart or reprint jobs from the job list
If you want to resume or reprint a job, you can click the new Restart Job button from the job list to do so. It works for jobs from the error list, for paused jobs, and for already completed jobs. For completed jobs, this will create a duplicate with a new ID. If resources have been updated before the restart, these changes will be automatically applied. From the detail pane of the job overview, you can now access the used templates directly by following the displayed links.
Map color channels for specific jobs
If a jobs fails because not all color channels from the input PDF could be mapped, you can solve the issue now from the error list. The new Channel Mapping button allows you to map all unrecognized color channels for a specific job, which will automatically be restarted after this. Channel mappings from the job list are temporary mappings, they will not be added to your permanent channel mapping rules under Resources. You can find detailed instructions under the following link: Channel Mapping at Job Level
Create PDF hotfolders with flattening from GMG SmartProfiler
With GMG SmartProfiler Spectral, you can now create PDF hotfolders with active flattening, allowing you to integrate files with transparent or overprinting elements into your workflow quickly and seamlessly. You can modify and republish projects from these hotfolders if needed, and you will also benefit from shorter processing times, since the Raster/Vector Balance for jobs with flattening is reduced automatically. You can find detailed instructions in our Quick Start Guide under Hotfolder.
Reduce the processing time for jobs with flattening
If you use flattening together with high Raster/Vector Balance, PDF processing can take a very long time and, at worst, result in an error. To avoid both, you can now define a time limit for jobs with flattening. Once a job exceeds this limit, it will be automatically canceled and restarted with raster like settings. This way, quality is only adjusted when necessary, and the job can be processed faster. Learn more under Cancel Job when Flattening exceeds timeout.
Have measurement data optimized automatically
Do you often experience problems caused by inconsistent measurements? GMG SmartProfiler now smoothes your measurement data automatically and also corrects single color wedges and outliers, ensuring consistent and reliable results. The applied optimization level is shown in the interface afterwards and provides insights on how good your original measurement data have been. Read more about the automatic measurement data optimization under Printing and Measuring Test Charts.
Achieve high quality at low TAC
If you reduce the total amount of ink coverage for sensitive materials like uncoated media, the defined TAC value will now be applied more precisely thanks to improved control algorithms and a different processing sequence. Color shifting as well as overinking are thus reliably avoided. To have the improvements applied to your existing projects, you will need to republish them. A connection to GMG OpenColor 3.0 or later is required.
Save HP Indigo clicks and increase productivity at the same time
Pay only for the clicks you really need: obsolete color channels are now automatically removed from your multicolor PDF files and thus no longer count in the click calculation. That also means that your jobs will be printed faster, allowing for a higher throughput overall.
Get notified in the app when new updates are available
Always up to date: GMG ColorServer automatically informs you if a new patch or service update is available. You can then download the new version directly from the application and install it either immediately or at a later time of your choice. You can find detailed instructions under the following link: Automatic Update Notifications
Manage licenses with the new Application Service
The new license management motto is: one for all — all with one! The new Application Service manages all GMG licenses together and keeps their status up-to-date via the GMG Cloud. It also recognizes new licenses automatically and transfers them to your system in the background. In the revamped user interface, you can view a complete license overview at any time and also create a log file for troubleshooting in case of problems. Find out more under the following link: License Management
Work productively with our improved user interface
We have revised the user interface in many places to make your work easier and to improve its appearance. Among other things, we have adjusted the width and sort order of various columns, made the view with activated lock function clear and consistent, and changed the order of important settings in the Configurator so you can access them faster.
