Control processing steps and PDF layer processing
With layer rules, you can now define whether you would like to convert, remove, or preserve specific PDF layers and PDF Processing Steps according to ISO 19593-1. You can find instructions on how to create layer rules under the following link: Layer Rules
Configure dynamic conversion parameters via Job Ticket XML and API
You can now also define the parameters for dynamic conversion via Job Ticket XML and API.
Preserve linework when rasterizing with channel mapping rules
When rasterizing files, spot colors marked as ‘Technical Channel’ in the channel mapping rules will now be preserved, ensuring your linework remains intact.
Resolved issues
This version provides higher stability and fixes several bugs. We recommend you to always install the latest GMG ColorServer version to benefit from all improvements.

Adobe® PDF Library 21
Ensure that your PDF processing is state of the art: GMG ColorServer 5.6 comes with the latest Adobe® PDF Library 21.
Have conversion profiles and spot color variants calculated dynamically
GMG ColorServer now supports dynamic profiling, so you can request conversion profiles and spot color variants dynamically from GMG OpenColor. You can access and adjust separation settings directly from the GMG ColorServer conversion template, where you can also adjust the ink configuration for your digital printer at any time. This flexibility allows you to use a single conversion template for different ink set variants, reducing the number of hotfolders and resources needed. Please follow the link for further information: Dynamic conversions
Reduce the number of output channels to the optimum
Would you like to use as few output channels on your ECG printer as possible? When using dynamic conversions, you can either manually activate and deactivate output channels as needed, or you can have the number of channels minimized automatically by defining a Delta E threshold as quality criteria. For fully automated workflows, the output channels to be used can also be defined via Job Ticket and API. Please visit the following link for further information: Dynamic spot color conversions
Precision meets economy: Recalibrate only the inks you need
Are you tired of recalibrating the full ink set of your digital ECG printer when you only use a subset for your printing process? Are you even managing multiple individual hotfolders for each ink configuration, clustering your system and making it prone to errors? Our enhanced recalibration function offers a better solution: Within the same hotfolder and with just a few clicks, you can now select and deselect channels as needed before recalibrating. Print test charts with only the subset you really need to shrink test chart size, boost calibration time, and cut costs. Learn how to maximize efficiency with tailored recalibration under Press Recalibration.
Speed up flattening for PDFs with technical channels
Do you frequently process PDF files containing purely technical channels such as Varnish or Braille? Do you often find it takes too long to process such files, especially with flattening enabled? Good news: With the new 'Technical Channel' option for channel mapping rules, you can now exclude such channels from flattening to boost processing time. See how it works under the following link: Channel Mapping Options
Only use channel mapping rules for spot color conversion
If you want to only apply channel mapping rules to your spot color conversion, you can now do so by enabling the new option 'Use Only Channel Mapping Rules' in the spot color processor of your conversion template. If you want to learn more about conversion templates and how to create them, please visit the following link: Conversion Templates
Rasterize complex PDF files right from the start
To address issues with complex files — such as errors and long processing times — you can now opt to rasterize entire PDF files right from the start. A new 'Rasterize PDF' section has been added to the 'PDF Processing' dialog, where you can configure various rasterization settings. These settings will also apply to the flattening option 'Restart Flattening by Rasterizing All Objects', where jobs are rasterized after being canceled due to flattening time-out. Further details on the new rasterize settings will be provided soon.
Receive licenses for new systems at any time
Did you ever need to set up a new system urgently beyond the GMG business hours? For example a disaster recovery setup after hardware failure? With our new Application Service function 'Request temporary licenses' and a user account at our cloud management platform GMG Manage, you can now obtain a temporary license package at any time to safeguard business continuity even in time-critical cases. This package covers all essential GMG applications and is valid for four days. Within this period, you can contact your local dealer or our support team to replace the temporary licenses with permanent ones. Dive into the details of temporary licensing under Request temporary licenses
Design improvement: Discover the elegance of simplicity
